Wylie Mar is a Métis Vocalist, rapper/MC, and guitarist born and raised on the east side of Vancouver Island. With her west coast feel and velvety, soulful voice; she blurs the lines of multiple genres in a smooth, and intuitive way. Some of her sounds are surfy, funky, groovy, jazzy and melancholy; all live looped on the spot, tied together with an interactive drum pad. To add to the feel there’s an electronic and hip hop aspect that has a similar flow to a DJ. Not only will her vocals make you melt, her bars will get you bopping indefinitely. She might even bust out a freestyle if the vibe is right, mashing up covers alongside originals. Her lyrics range from telling a story to being fun, silly, and authentic; each song having its own individuality. She chooses to release her music as singles, to embody different aspects of her personality. Not only is Wylie a multifaceted musician, she’s also a multifaceted artist. Along with being a tattoo artist and photographer, She films, edits and directs her music videos throughout her journey; with people she meets who get on with her flavour. In the past recent years she has embarked on learning how to produce her own music. At the end of the day, Wylie is self taught with very little musical training, just messing around on any and all instruments since the age of 5; to develop a strong sense of playing by ear, and to discover her own unique sound.
